People who move a lot live better.
Many of you will come to this conclusion if you compare the couch potatoes in your circle of acquaintances with those who regularly take part in sporting activities. The latter are almost always in a better mood.
A large representative study in Colorado from 2007 * shows that this feeling is correct. Of the 5930 participants, 17.1 % stated that they had no leisure activities involving physical activity.
One of the questions was: “How would you rate your state of health?” The possible answers were “very good”, “good”, “fair” and “poor”. 9.2% of respondents who said they were involved in sporting activities said “fair” or “poor”. Of the inactive participants, 35.4% described their state of health as “fair” or “poor”.
2.5 times more inactive participants stated that they were dissatisfied with their lives (9.6%) compared to participants who were physically active (3.8%). The differences were highly significant.
